Exciting Football Games
What fun it has been to watch some tremendous football games in recent weeks.
My favorite, of course, was Oklahoma’s stunning upset of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. The
Sooners were 16 1/2 to 17 1/2 point underdogs, and I predicted the Crimson Tide would prevail,
35 to 10. Oh, ye of little faith.
How about the national championship duel? Florida State and Auburn trading three
touchdowns in the final 4 1/2 minutes and the Seminoles scoring the winning TD with only
13 seconds remaining. Great drama.
Texas A&M-Duke, Missouri-Oklahoma State, Clemson-Ohio State, and Michigan State-Stanford
were also thrillers.
On the NFL’s Wild Card weekend, we almost saw a rarity. If Kansas City had not squandered
a 28-point lead at Indianapolis, all four ROAD teams would have been victorious. New Orleans,
San Diego and San Francisco achieved victories in hostile environments.
My choices for the Super Bowl are Denver and San Francisco.
